AI-Powered Draw-to-Life Event Experience

The Challenge

VIBRANT needed a custom event app that could:

• Be built in just 4–5 weeks
• Stay within a budget of $10,000 CAD
• Handle 1,000+ children’s drawings during a live event
• Generate AI artwork in 20–40 seconds
• Run without downtime over two event days
• Be simple enough for staff to use with little training

The biggest challenge was that no existing software could reliably turn children’s crayon drawings into AI-generated artwork fast enough for a busy live event.

Our Approach

Understanding the Event:
We worked closely with the VIBRANT team to understand how people would move through the event and what kind of experience they wanted before building the solution.

Custom AI Event App:
We built a custom AI event app where children scanned their drawings on an iPad and watched them turn into AI-generated characters. The app cleaned the image, added the watermark, prepared it for printing, and reset for the next child.

AI Image Generation:
We built an AI pipeline that recognised hand-drawn artwork, cleaned the scans, and generated digital images that stayed close to the original drawing. Most images were ready in 20–40 seconds.

Event-Ready Infrastructure:
The system was built for live events with cloud APIs, offline support, automatic retries, and real-time monitoring to keep everything running smoothly throughout the day.

The solution became one of the standout attractions at the Fairview Park Family Activation, showing how interactive event technology can create memorable experiences while running smoothly at scale.
